A First Step Toward Ending Torture

With your help, the United States is on its way to putting an end to policies of torture and official cruelty.  During the campaign, more than 65, 000 Americans for Human Rights stood up against torture and called on the candidates to stand strong for human rights.  Because of your efforts, both candidates agreed that ending torture by the U.S. government would be a priority for their Administration. Now that the election is over, we must ensure that campaign promises are backed up with firm and swift action.

Read our blueprints for how President Obama can accomplish the goal of ending torture and closing Guantanamo.

Stay in touch.  We'll be continuing to ask for your help to push for changes in policy through the transition period and beyond.
